Sunderland and North Durham Royal Society for the Blind provides support, advice and services to over 600 members. We are a local Society that relies greatly on donations and legacies for continuation of our services.

Currently the Society manages a Resource Centre at its office at 8, Foyle Street, Sunderland where it provides specialist items such as talking watches and clocks, kitchen scales, tape measures, symbol canes and much more to assist with day to day living for the visually impaired.

The Society organises several holidays and outings each year for the visually impaired and their guides.
The Society acts as an Advice Centre providing information to assist visually impaired members with day to day living.
The Society has recently formed a Sunderland Macular Support Group that meet on the last Wednesday of each month in the Education Room, Central Library, Fawcett Street, Sunderland.
