Sensory Exhibition at Stadium of Light
Sunderland and North Durham Royal Society for the Blind, in conjunction with the Sensory Support Team at Health, Housing and Adult Services, are organising a Sensory Exhibition. The event, “WE’AR VISION, WE’AR HEAR”, will take place in the Banqueting Suit at the Stadium of Light, Sunderland on Wednesday 9th November 2011 between 10am and 4pm. Admission is free.
To date over 40 Companies and Businesses that supply specialist equipment for the visually impaired and the hearing impaired, together with several Charities and Service Providers, have booked a stand.
Free transport for anyone wishing to attend the exhibition has been arranged from Cowan Terrace (beside Park Lane Bus station) to and from the Stadium of Light throughout the day, provided by Compass Community Transport.
Sighted guide support will be available for the visually impaired provided by trained volunteers.
The Exhibition will include equipment demonstrations by some of the Country’s leading manufacturers. Advice and information will also be available to anyone with an interest in visual or hearing impairment.
The event will be attended by the Guide Dogs UK Event Demonstration Team who will be pleased to discuss guide dog ownership with anyone who is interested. In addition, “Sit and be Fit” will offer a series of taster sessions throughout the day to demonstrate the benefits of gentle exercise.
Richard Wood, Executive Officer for Sunderland and North Durham Royal Society for the Blind says, “We are delighted with the interest that is being shown in the exhibition. It is our third event to be held in Sunderland and, as well as showcasing specialist equipment for the visually impaired and hearing impaired, it will highlight local services for local people.”
Anyone requiring further information about the event can telephone the Society on 0191 5673939.
